The name of O P Nayyar is normally associated with racy songs. He was not a classical music trained music director, unlike many of his peers. But even then, O P Nayyar could still come up with lovely semi classical songs if the situation so demanded.

Kishore Kumar is mainly associated with light hearted fun songs, though he has sung great songs in all genres including serious songs. It is a well known fact that Kishore Kumar was a natural singer, who had not taken any training in classical music, unlike most other leading singers. In fact,this lack of classical training was often taken to mean by music directors that Kishore Kumar could not sing such songs. I can recall at least one occasion where Manna Dey’s voice was used for Kishore Kumar the actor for a semi classical song situation. 🙂

Few people may have heard of this movie called “Taj” (1956). This movie had Pradeep Kumar and Vyjyanti Mala in lead roles. This pair had figured in the blockbuster “Naagin” (1954) and they were most likely signed up for this movie on the wake of their “Naagin” (1954) success.
