The more songs I post, the more I realise how small is the collection of songs in this blog vis a vis the sheer volume of quality songs that are not yet covered. I am approaching 2000 songs in this blog, but I feel that I have only scratched the surface so far.

“Malhaar” (1951) was one movie in which Roshan had come into his own and he created some wonderful songs that have gone on to become immortal. I have posted one of these songs (bade armaanon se rakkhaa hai kadam) in the past.

“Buzdil” (1951) was a movie starring Premnath and Nimmi and Kishore Sahu. Yes, those were the days when Premnath used to act as hero in Bollywood movies.

In 1950s, Shankar Jaikishan tended to use Lata’s voice for all female playback songs. It is alright if they had to use her voice for one actress, but there were occasions when more than one actress in the same movie lip synced to Lata’s voice. Fortunately, they did not do so in the same song.

One of the earlier pioneers of Bollywood movie music was Anil Biswas. He was one of the earlier music directors to make the most of Lata’s voice.

This is a song that I must have heard many a times. It is a timeless classic. And considering that this song is from “Aawaara”(1951) and it is sung by Lata, I took it for granted that this song was picturised on Nargis.
