Wo din kahaan gaye bataa

Posted on: August 30, 2009

One of the earlier pioneers of Bollywood movie music was Anil Biswas. He was one of the earlier music directors to make the most of Lata’s voice.

Take this song from “Taraana” for example. Here Lata’s voice sounds as sweet as she has ever sounded. And the song, written by D N Madhok and picturised on Madhubala, is a beautiful song to listen to.

Song-Wo din kahaan gaye bataa(Taraana) (1951) Singer-Lata,Lyrics- D N Madhok, MD-Anil Biswas

Lyrics

kyaa khabar thi ke muhabbat mein ye din aate hain
jise ham apnaa banaate hain, wo tadpaate hain

wo din kahaan gaye bataa
wo din kahaan gaye bataa
jab is nazar mein pyaar thaa, pyaar thaa
wo din kahaan gaye bataa

maine to kuchh kahaa nahin
jo yoon nigaahen pher li
maine to kuchh kahaa nahin
wo raat yaad hai yahin, kissaa huaa thaa pyaar kaa
wo din kahaan gaye bataa
wo din kahaan gaye bataa

aankhon mein neend thi magar
soye nahin the raat bhar
aankhon mein neend thi magar
soye nahin the raat bhar
dil ko lagaa huaa thaa dar
haay saweraa ho gayaa
wo din kahaan gaye bataa
wo din kahaan gaye bataa
jab is nazar mein pyaar thaa
pyaar thaa
wo din kahaan gaye bataa

And how absolutely stunning does Madhubala look…this film is the one where she and Dilip began their romance, and their chemistry jumps off the screen at you. Worth watching just for that!
