“Hyderabad Ki Naazneen” (1952) is a movie about which very little is known. I have discussed two songs from this movie and the only thing that I have been able to find from the picturisation is that Nigar Sultana played the title role in this movie.

It has often been suggested that Hindi movies of the earlier days were far more permissive and liberal than the movies that followed later. Based on my own observations,I tend to agree with this view.

Ye chaand sitaare kyaa jaanen

“Khoobsoorat” (1952) is one of the obscure movies with Madan Mohan’s music in it. I have little idea about the cast of this movie, but I find that this movie has a song sung by Suraiyya. This tells me that Suraiyya was clearly there in this movie as the leading lady. And this also tells me that Madan Mohan in that case had a few of his songs sung by Suraiyya too.
