Today 8th September 2025 is the 92nd birthday of of legendary singer Asha Bhonsle(born on 08.09.1933). On this occasion I sharing a few songs sung by Asha Bhonsle.
Asha Bhonsle a living legend needs no introductions on a blog which deals with Hindi Film Songs and NFS. There is nothing new left for me to add as far as her biography is concerned.
The song under discussion here is from an un-released movie ‘Do Dost-1960’.

We in this blog have achieved several milestones, but this milestone is something in its own league. Today we are celebrating a humongous individual milestone. With this post, Lata Mangeshkar reaches 4000 songs as a playback singer in this blog !
More than one decade ago, She had touched 1000 songs in the blog as the blog itself touched 3000 songs. Imagine, today she alone touches 4000 songs in the blog.
I had run a series on Lata Mangeshkar’s songs (yearwise) in the blog. That series, which ran every monday for 63 weeks (viz for one year and three months). In that series we had an indepth look at the list of songs that Lata Mangeshkar had sung in Hindi movies.

“Choron Ki Baaraat-1960” was directed by Pradeep Naiyyar for ‘K Pictures, Bombay’. It was produced by Charanjeet and passed by Censor Board on 22.08.1960. The cast of this movie had Amarnath, Nazi, Shaikh, Shakeela Bano Bhopali, Jani Babu Qawwal, George, Nemo, Meena, Darshan, Om Mota, Haroon, Daleep, Badshah, Gulab, Bahadur (the dog), Jeevankala, Rammohan, Master Sohan, Majnoo, Rajan Haksar, and others.
This movie has six songs written by Gulzar (as Gulzar Deenvi (one song), Naqsh Lyallpuri (one song), Farooq Kaiser (one song), Sajan Bihar and Aziz Ghazi. Lyricist’s name for one song is not known. The singers list for this movie includes Sudha Malhotra, Jani Babu Qawwaal, Mahendra Kapoor, S. Balbir, and Suman Kalyanpur.

“Mohabbat Ki Jeet”(1960) was produced and directed by B S Ranga for Vikram Productions, Madras. This movie had Raja Sulochana, Ranjan, Sowcar Janki, Sriram, Rajagopal etc in it. It appears from the cast that this movie may have been a remake of some South Indian movie though HFGK is silent about this fact.

Today, March 6, 2025, is the 7th Remembrance Day of Shammi Aunty (26/04/1929 – 06/03/2018). Her trade mark smile with a cheerful face which many of us have seen during her six decades of filmy career, masked her chequered life – both personal and professional. The tough life which she had gone through in her childhood made her to accept any type of roles out of the financial necessity. That made Shammi to act in various genre of roles. In my last article, I discussed the film, ‘Naache Naagin Baaje Been’ (1969) which was written and produced by Devi Sharma (19/10/2021 – 30/03/2010). I got acquainted with his name when I had watched his films, ‘Ganga Ki Laharen’ (1964) and ‘Gunaahon Kaa Devta’ (1967)” in my younger days. Meerut born Devi Sharma was a writer and got attracted to the glamour world of Hindi films. He shifted to Mumbai and debuted as a co-producer with Wasti for ‘Basre Ki Hoor (1956). His first independent film as a producer and writer under his banner, Janta Chitra was ‘Taxi Stand’ (1958). The next as a producer-writer was ‘Kaali Topi Laal Roomaal’ (1959).
