It was produced and directed by I.S.Johar for his own banner, Johar films- Bombay. Lyricist was Indivar and the Music Director was the pair of Kalyanji- Anandji. The film had a cast of Sonia Sahni, I.S.Johar, Ratnamala, Kamal Kapoor, Tiwari, Sapru, Rajan Haksar, Ulhas, Mukri, Manorama, Narmada Shankar, Shetty etc.etc. I had written a post on a Parody song from this film in 2013. In this post I am presenting a song from the 1966 Bhojpuri movie ‘Loha Singh (Bhojpuri)’.
Regulars on the blog would wonder on my new found love for Bhojpuri songs. Yes, I am enjoying listening to the songs of yesteryear Bhojpuri films that were made from sixties to eighties. ( I like a song from the recent years too, but we will have to wait for that 🙂 ).
Geet Kosh Vol-IV (1961-1970) mentions that the movie ‘Loha Singh-1966’ was directed by Kundan Kumar for Vikramsheel Arts. The cast of this movie had Sujit Kumar, Vijaya Chaudhary, R.S. Kashyap, Sujata, Tiwari, Sheel Kumar, Helen and others.

“Sau Saal Baad’ of 1966 was an unsuccessful ghostly mystery film, produced by B K Dubey. The star cast included Feroz Khan, Kumkum, Manmohan Krishna, Rajendra Nath, D K Sapru etc. Lyrics were by Anand Bakshi and the superb music by Laxmikant Pyarelal.

‘Love And Murder’ (1966) was an obscure film which I came to know very recently due to its couple of pleasing dance songs composed by O P Nayyar. The film was produced by B K Adarsh under his banner, Adarshlok and was directed by Raja Paranjpe. The cast included Ramesh Deo, Jaymala in lead roles, supported by Prithviraj Kapoor, Heeralal, P Kailash, Helen, Kammo, Chandrakant, Asit Sen, Edwina etc. One of the features of this film’s marketing was that the publicity posters of the film contained only the name of producer, director and the music director. The names of even the main actors were not mentioned.

Today (1 March 2025) is the 83rd birthday of Indrani Mukherjee (born on March 01, 1942). I have watched some of her 1960s’ films mostly having pious and graceful roles. She was born in Allahabad (now Prayagraj) in a Bengali Brahmin family. Her father was a doctor and her mother, a housewife. She did her early schooling in Allahabad and completed her high school studies in Kolkata. From her childhood, she was interested in Hindi films.
