“Naya Zamaana”(1957) was directed by Lekhraj Bhakri for Link Films, Bombay. The movie had Pradeep Kumar, Mala Sinha, Veena, Kammo, Leela Mishra, Badri Prasad, Gope, Shukla, Poonam Kapoor, Shakuntala, Brahmdatt, Daizy Irani, Baby Naaz, Al Nasir etc in it. Pradeep Kumar and Al Nasir were guest artists in this movie.

It is from a religious film “Sati Priksha-57”, a “C” grade film with less known actors in the cast. The song is sung by Asha Bhonsle and chorus and it is composed by Music Director Sanmukh Babu Upadhyaya.

I am glad that I posted this song when I did. As per my search, this is possibly the last song of Rafi Sb that starts with ‘ऊ’, and not yet posted on our blog. Just made it by cat’s whiskers. Otherwise, I would have been expressing regrets, just like for ‘ई’. 🙂

If a “Miss India “ contestant were to be asked, during the question- answer round, “What would be your next goal, if you were crowned ?”, she is unlikely to say “Mother India” :). But that is exactly what has been seen in Nargis’s celluloid journey. After her portrayal in & as ‘Miss India’ (January 1957), which cannot be described a winner at box office, she went on to portray ‘Mother India’ (October 1957) which turned out to be a land mark cinema.

OK, okay, I am just making it up. It was not a dark and stormy night. Delhi is well lighted in the nights these days, so it is hard to come by a dark night unless it is a power failure on a moonless night. Plus being the month of November, and the onset of winters, no storms are likely. Ah but how I wish I could start the story with this line. 😉
