I found it interesting that the same Shankar Jaikishan, who were the regular music directors of Raj Kapoor were the regular music directors of Shammi Kapoor as well. But while SJ would use Mukesh ( and sometimes Manna Dey) for Raj Kapoor and create hit songs, they would create hit songs with Rafi for Shammi Kapoor.

Suraiyya, who was a big name singer-actor in 1940s insisted on singing only for herself. As a result, when the era of specialist playback singers dawned in 1950s, Suraiyya found few takers for her acting-cum-singing.
