“Agar Tum Na Hote”(1983) was produced by Vimal Kumar and Rajiv Kumar and directed by Lekh Tandon for Shivam Chitra, Bombay. This “social” movie had Rajesh Khanna, Rekha, Raj Babbar, in lead roles. The movie also had Madan Puri, Asrani, Baby Shabana, Sudhir Dalvi, Yunus Parvez, Sundar, Dulaari, Ranveer Raj, Rekha Parmar, Zubeda junior, Sunil Dhawan etc. The movie also had Gulshan Bawra and Sami Malik in friendly roles.

There are people who look forward to the weekends and they raise a silent or may be not so silent hurray as soon as they leave from their office to their home on friday evening. Why are people so happy during weekends and what exactly do they do on weekends ? I feel that working people are happy on realising that they will not have to be at the beck and call of their boss in the office for the next two days. They hope that they would be their own bosses for the next two days. Weekends are especially sweet for those people who feel that they have the misfortune of working with the worst boss in the world. 🙂

The lyrics would really move you, in case you get the context of the song. And one need not know the story line to get the context. Just look at the video. The actors Rajesh Khanna and Rekha, as well as the singers Kishore and Lata make the context so clear that I need not fill in the background details. Very powerful emotions have been penned in very simple language by Gulshan Bawra. It was one of the last hits of R D Burman before the trend of chaalu songs lashed Bollywood like a thunderstorm.
