‘Agar Tum Na Hote’ (1983) was produced by Vimal Kumar-Rajeev Kumar and directed by Lekh Tandon for Shivam Chitra, Bombay. The movie had Rajesh Khanna, Rekha, Raj Babbar, Madan Puri, Asrani, Baby Shabana, Sudhir Dalvi, Yunus Parwez, Sundar, Dulaari, Ranveer Raj, Rekha Parmar, Zubeida (II), Sunil Dhawan etc. Gulshan Bawra and Sami Malik had made friendly appearances in the movie.

The lyrics would really move you, in case you get the context of the song. And one need not know the story line to get the context. Just look at the video. The actors Rajesh Khanna and Rekha, as well as the singers Kishore and Lata make the context so clear that I need not fill in the background details. Very powerful emotions have been penned in very simple language by Gulshan Bawra. It was one of the last hits of R D Burman before the trend of chaalu songs lashed Bollywood like a thunderstorm.
