“Jwaar Bhaata”(1944) was directed by Amiya Chakravarty for Bombay Talkies. The movie had Mridula, Shamim, Agha Jaan, Dilip Kumar, P F Pithawala, K N Singh, Mumtaz Ali, Arun Kumar, Vikram Kapoor, Jagannath Arora,Naseem Lodhi, C J Pandey, Khaleel etc in it. “Aurat”(1940) was a Mehboob Khan Production. It had Sardar Akhtar, Surendra, Jyoti, Yacub, Kanhaiyalal, Arun Kumar etc in it. The story of this movie was later reused by Mehboob Khan in his “Mother India” (1957).

Today (6 february 2016) is the 102nd birth anniversary of Kavi Pradeep (6 february 1915-11 december 1998).

Those who have kept the track of the events may recall that Government of India, Ministry of Culture had announced a year-long birth centenary celebrations of Begum Akhtar sometime last year.
