I had heard this song many a times as a kid in late 1960s. I had no inkling which movie this song was from but that did not prevent me from liking this song. From the voice I could make out that this song was sung by Lata. Yes, I could make out the difference between various singers even in those days.

I have posted a few songs from “Ziddi” (1964) already. This was a Shammi Kapoor type movie ( Joy Mukherji and Asha Parekh starred in it). One major difference in this movie from other Shammi Kapoor type movie was that the music director was S D Burman in this movie.

“Love In Tokyo” (1966) was a movie that came two years after the Tokyo Olympics, and it showed Indian viewers some stunning scenes that left Indians gasping. It was diffucult to believe that Japan, a country which was on the same boat as India just two decades ago had taken such rapid strides in just one generation.

Laxmikant (of Laxmikant Pyarelal) played this song when he presented Vishesh Jaimala programme on Vividh Bharati in 1970. From the lyrics, it can be seen that it is indeed the title song of the movie, but all these days I was not aware of this fact.
