Today(18 August 2025) is the last Monday of shraavan month in Southern India as well as parts of Central India. We have been presenting Shiv stuti songs on the blog ever since shraawan month commenced in Northern India and subsequently in Southern and Central parts of India. Shraawan is over in Northern parts and now it is getting over in Southern and Central parts of India as well. Today we present another song devoted to Lord Shiva.. This song is from the movie “Balram Shrikrishna-1968”.

#the Decade of Sixties – 1961 – 1970 #

Today on 26th August’2024 the country is celebrating the festival of ‘Janmashtami’ i.e. the festival of birth of Lord Krishna. As Atul ji would like to put it in his words this is the ‘seventeenth’ ‘janmashtami’ festival for the blog which started in the year 2008. And ‘2008’ was the first ‘janmashtami year’ for this blog. Every year on this occasion we feature here songs related to Lord Krishna. I will be presenting couple of songs on this occasion here.

“Balram Srikrishna”(1968) was directed by Chandrakant for Joy Films, Bombay. This mythological movie had Dara Singh, Shahu Modak, Premnath, Nana Palsikar, Randhawa, Azad, Ashish Kumar, Gemini Ganesh, Prithviraj, Savitri, Jaishri Gadkar, Geetanjali, Madhumati, Bela Bose, Padma Rani, Sushma, Uma Khosla, Aruna Irani, Sulochana Chatterjee, Babu Raje, Sherry, BM Vyas, Anand Joshi, Arvind Pandya, Bhale Rao, Radheshyam, Pal Sharma etc in it.

Today, we bring on board the 1968 film ‘Balram Srikrishna’. We are now down to some of the most obscure films on this list of pending films of 1960s. However, the film itself is available, and the video clip of this song is uploaded. As the name suggests, it is a mythological / historical film based on our scriptures. It depicts some of the episodes from the stories related to the Sri Krishna avataar of the Supreme Lord. And Balram is the name of the elder brother of Sri Krishna in this incarnation.
