Today’s song is from the film ‘Char Din’ (1949).
The cast of the film was Suraiyya, Shyam, Badri Prasad, Jayant, Om Prakash, Ram Avtar, Ismail, Mohna and many others. The film was directed by M Sadiq. The songs were by Shakeel Badayuni and the music director was Shyam Sundar.

After almost four decades of a self imposed silence, finally the life breath behind this charming voice faded away, this day eleven years ago. A voice that was the darling of the listeners, for more than two decades prior to her reclusive phase.

“Chaar Din” (1949) was directed by M Sadiq for Ratan Pictures. The movie had Shyam, Suraiya, Jayant, Randhir, Mohana, Shyama, Badri Prasad, Om Prakash, Cuckoo etc in it.

This song is a long pending farmaish for this blog. This song is “Haseenon ki adaayen”, aka “haan ye bholi soorat waale” from “Chaar Din” (1949). This song has been giving me lots of troubles. For one, this song has not one , but two parts. And secondly, each of the part is supposed to have three singers each and as per credits, only one singer is repeated in the other part of the song. But I can clearly notice that these parts have more than three singers singing in them. Moreover, more than one common voice can be heard in both the versions.

“Chaar Din” (1949) is a movie starring Shyam and Suraiyya. This movie had some nice songs in it that became good candidates for being played in the “puraani filmon ke geet” on radio ceylon when I was growing up.

“Chaar Din” (1949) is a movie which had Suraiyya and Shyam in lead roles. This movie has music by Shyam Sundar which to me is always an indication that the movie will have some lovely songs in it.
