“Devar” (1966) was a De Luxe fims production and it was directed by Mohan Segal. This cast of this movie included names like Dharmendra,SKishore Kumar, Sabita Chatterji,Sharmila Tagore,Deven Verma, Shashikala,Dhumal, Sulochana, Raj Mehra, Sapru, Tarun Bose, Durga Khote etc.

I have already posted one memorable nostalgic song from this movie sung by Mukesh and picturised on Dharmendra.
This movie was in fact full of memorable songs. Quite a few of such songs were sung by Mukesh for Dharmendra. Here is another such memorable song.

I have heard this song many a times, without knowing which movie it is from and how it was picturised. I assumed that this song was sung by a housewife whose husband was sulking.
When I finally watched the picturisation, I felt let down. It was not a housewife singing it for her husband, it was a mujra sung by a courtesan for her client. This was one standard form of item songs in those days. Other form of item song being cabaret, typically performed by Helen.

Nostalgia has always been a good topic for songs. There have been quite a few nostalgic songs in Bollywood movies that have become evergreen. Even among nostalgic songs, songs recalling one’s childhood tend to become most unforgettable of all such songs.
One of the most well known and well remembered nostalgic song about childhood is this song from “Devar” sung by Mukesh. This song is unlikely to be forgotten with time. It is simply timeless.
