These are lines in the song “Kaun hai jo sapno main aayaa” from film “Jhuk Gayaa Aasmaan “(1968), which can be applied to many Hindi films, especially of golden era of Hindi film songs which ‘died’ in no time as soon as they were released. But many of songs from such films remained immortal.

Datta Naik was born in Goa, which was then a Portuguese colony. He came to Bombay to try his luck as a music director. Initially he acted as an assistant to S D Burman before starting out as an independent music director. He changed his name to N Datta by re ordering the sequence of his name.

“Anand Math” (1952) is a novel written by Bankimchandra Chattopadhyay which was first published in 1882. This novel served as a major source of inspiration for Indian freedom fighters against the British rulers. The British rulers banned this novel and this ban was lifted only after India gained independence. “Vandematram”, a song contained in the novel became Indian’s national song.
