“Manohar”(1954) was a movie dubbed from Tamil movie “Manohara”(1954). It was produced by M Somasundaram and directed by L V Prasad for Manohar Films, Madras. Today’s song is from dubbed Tamil film, titled ” Manohar” in Hindi, in 1954.
After the mind boggling and the most unexpected success of the film Chandralekha-1948 from Gemini Studios, owned by S.S.Vasan, the Southern film industry was shaken. They never imagined that the Hindi belt could be tapped for additional business. The southern film stars, who always harboured a hidden desire to gain name, fame and the consequent money from the Hindi belt which occupied almost 75 to 80 % of All India market, also saw their opportunities in this.

Today’s song is from film ‘Doctor Z’ from 1959.
The title seems funny, isn’t it? Somehow, I find that the film makers give bizarre titles to their films sometimes. Films with prefix Mr. or Dr. were plenty. The earliest such a Talkie film was ‘Mr. 420’ made in 1937. Later, ‘Mr. X’ was made in 1938. This was repeated in 1957 and 1984. ‘Mr. X in Bombay’ was made in 1964. ‘Mr. India’ came in 1961 and also 1987. If I liken songs in the blog to rain drops, then one must say that the blog is suffereing from less rain fall this year compared to last year. 🙂 From a regular downpour of six songs a day, we are these days reduced to a trickle of one or two songs a day and there have been even some dot days in the blog. The last century celebration in the blog happened ages ago, viz on 3 may 2015, exactly 50 days ago.

“Chingaari” (1955) is an obscure movie by now. This movie was a co operative pictures production. It was directed by S Srivastava. Starcast of the movie included Shekhar, Nalini Jaywant, Leela Misra, Sunalini Devi, Pran etc.
