Here is a rare song from an unheard of movie. The movie is called “Return of Mr Superman” (1960).
This song is written by Manmohan Sabir and the music director is Anil Biswas. The song was sung by Meena Kapoor, who was Anil Biswas’ wife.

I have posted over a thousand songs in this blog so far. Most songs are 3 to 4 minutes long and their lyrics are about 200 words long. But this qawwali is nearly ten minutes long and its lyrics runs into 800 words !

It is widely believed by people that western music was introduced in bollywood in 1960s by R D Burman and that Hinglish lyrics began to be used in 1980s. One is way off the mark if one believes so.

“Ankhen” (1950) was the debut movie of Madan Mohan as a music director. He used quite a few singers as well as lyricists in this movie. I have already posted a song that was sung by Raj Khosla whose lyrics were written by B D Mishra.
