ZAMEENDAAR (1942) was produced under the banner of Pancholi Arts owned by Dalsukh Pancholi and it was directed by Moti B Gidwani. The main actors included Shanta Apte, S D Narang, Manorama, Ghulam Mohammed, M Ismail, Baby Akhtari, Durga Mota, Azmal etc. According to ‘Filmindia’ magazine, the film was third in line of the successful films in the box office for Dalsukh Pancholi after his successes in ‘Khazaanchi’ (1941) and ‘Khandaan’ (1942).

“Majboor”(1948) was directed by Nazir Ajmeri for Bombay Talkies. The movie had Amir Banu, Munawwar Sultana, Indu, Shivraj, Shyam Sohan etc in it.

In olden days, communctions and transportation facilities were not what they are today. Most people used to remain confined to their native places for much of their lives and they did not know how people lived in other parts of the world. In the course of my exercise on Mohammed Rafi’s playback singing career during 1944-50, I had browsed through some of his songs of the films of that period which I had never heard of. One of those films was ‘Jalte Deep’ (1950). As per the information available on the internet, the film was produced under the banner of Nihal Film Corporation and was directed by Deepak Asha (also known as Dharam Kumar). The star cast included Randheer, Nimmi, Amarnath, Kuldeep Kaur, Sofia, Leela Mishra etc. As per http://www.myswar.com, ‘Jalte Deep’ (1950) has 12 songs written by 3 lyricists –Aziz Kashmiri, Nazim Panipati and M A Taj. The songs were composed by Sardul Kwatra and T K Das.
