I haven’t seen the movie Dasvidaniya(2008), but what I have heard about it makes me want to see it. From what I have read of it, it is a story of a terminally-ill patient, who after receiving the news of the terminal nature of his illness, decides to live his life fully and to achieve ten important things in his life.

Kishore Kumar, who was externally a jovial and boisterous character had a sensitive side to him as well. He could sing serious and sensitive songs with the same ease with which he rendered fun songs. When it came to producing movies, Kishore Kumar has produced rip roaring comedy viz. “Chalti Ka Naam Gaadi” (1958) and “Jhumru” (1961), but many of his subsequent movies dealt with sensitive topics. These movies were far ahead of their times and the Indian masses were by and large not evolved enough to appreciate Kishore Kumar’s subsequent movies on serious topics, namely “Door Gagan Ki Chhaaon Mein”(1964), “Door Ka Raahi” (1971), “Door Waadiyon Mein” (1982).

The non film songs of Saigal Saab almost entirely consist of ghazals by various poets. In this category, there is a handful of songs that are not ghazals. But what gems of semi classical creation these are. This particular song has a very unique distinction, making it an important and a rare song. This is probably the only song for which Saigal Saab is the lyricist, composer and singer, all together. Yes, the lyrics of this beautiful song are written by Saigal Saab himself.

Music director Ravi is one person who entered Bollywood music scene in 1940s ( as an assistant music director) and he was around for the entire period that is regarded as the golden era of Bollywood music. He in fact can be described as one of the very few such persons who was there when the golden era began and he was still around when that era was over. All this while, he held his own . He was never jobless and he continued to churn out hit songs without fail.
