“New Delhi”(1956) is a movie that I find interesting. This movie had Kishore Kumar and Vyjyanti Mala in lead roles. This movie is interesting because it shows New Delhi as it was more than fifty years ago. Many important landmarks that we take for granted today in New Delhi were non existent at that time, as we can see from watching this movie.

This song from “Madhumati” (1958) is a magical song. I am mesmerised everytime I listen to this song.There is something magical about the music of this song that has elevated this song to a cult status. This song has become a favourite song among amateur singers who are called at the stage to sing a sing.

“Ladki”(1953) was a musical extravaganza. It was full of some breathtaking dances by Vyjyanti Mala and Anjali devi.

“Jhoola” (1962) was a movie about which I had little idea. I thought that movies with this kind of title must be a movie of early 1950s when we had movies of similar sounding titles ( “Jhamela”, “Jhaanjhar” etc).

Dooriyaan nazdeekiyaan ban gayin

This movie called “Duniya” (1968) managed to remain obscure despite boasting names such as Dev Anand and Vyjyanti Mala. Dev Saab continued his herogiri despite such failures, but Vyjyanti Mala’s reign as one of biggest heoines of those days came to an end soon thereafter.
