Today’s song is from an almost forgotten film Yahudi ki Ladki-1957. The film was produced and directed by S.D.Narang, for his own banner – New oriental Pictures, Bombay. Music was by Hemant Kumar, ably assisted by Ravi – who had become an Independent M.D. with the film Vachan in 1955. The cast included Madhubala, Pradeep kumar, gajanan Jahagirdar, Heeralal, S.D.Narang, Smriti Biswas, Krishnakant, Helen, Sheila Vaaz and many others. In addition the film also had 2 Egyptian dancers – Lyas and Lyan.

This movie had was Madhubala, Pradeep Kumar, Gajanan Jagirdar, Heeralal, Suder, Narang, Smriti Biswas, Amar, Krishnakant, Krishn Kumari, Dhanraj, Amrit Rana, Kamla Mukherji, Helen, Sheila Vaz, Meena, Tuntun, Ranjana Kumari, Premlata, Z Hussain, H A Rahi, Ramlal, H Prakash, M Harun, Dabboo, Babboo, Prithviraj, Baby Rajratan, Salma etc. The film also had a pair of Egyptian dancers in it namely Lyas and Lyan.

The song under discussion today is from Yahudi ki Ladki-57. It is a duet sung by Shamshad Begam and Geeta Dutt. Hemant Kumar was the music director. This is one of the very few films in Hindi Film History, which had a similar story plot in four films at different times.

There were two Hindi movies with the title “Yahudi Ki Ladki”. The first one was produced in 1933 and the other one was produced in 1957. As many as four songs from the 1933 movie has been discussed and none from the other movie of the same title.
