“Doosra Aadmi” (1977) was directed by Ramesh Talwar & produced by Yash Chopra. Rakhee Gulzar- Neetu Singh- Rishi Kapoor formed the core cast with Deven Verma, Satyen Kappu, Gita Siddharth, Sheetal, Jagdish Raj, Roopesh Kumar, Yunus Parvez, Vikas Anand etc. playing supporting characters. Parikshit Sahni had a special appearance & Shashi Kapoor was in a guest appearance. Rajee Singh (Neetu Singh’s mother in real life) & Kiran Vairale had tiny roles (blink & miss appearances). The songs of movie were written by Majrooh Sultanpuri & composed by Rajesh Roshan. Kishore Kumar, Mohd Rafi, Lata Mangeshkar, Pamela Chopra & Deven Verma were the singers used for the six songs of which five are already posted. It seems that, at that time, this was the only film of Yash Chopra for which the songs were written by Majrooh Sultanpuri & not Sahir Ludhianvi (experts among followers of this blog, please, confirm this)

We can see that songs of this movie made their debut in 2008 when the blog was a baby. It is achieving YYIIPPEEEEhood when the blog is a 16-year-old.
Rishi Kapoor (Karan Saxena) & Neetu Singh (Timsy) are collegemates who are in love. They get married with the blessings of the elders of the family within the first few reels of the film. Marriage makes Karan a responsible youngster who joins his father’s firm. He is told that Rakhee (Nisha) is an expert in her field and will be beneficial to their firm. So, Karan seeks out Nisha, offers her employment which she initially refuses but seeing Karan in person makes her change her mind. Reason: Karan reminds her of her dead fiancé. This is where the story turns into a love-quadrangle where Nisha’s past threatens to ruin Karan & Timsy’s present & future.
An interesting thing to note is- Rakhee had played Rishi Kapoor’s mother in Yash Chopra’s ‘Kabhi Kabhie’ (1976). Another trivia about the film is that Rajee Singh & Jennifer Kendal (Kapoor) were associated as costume designers too.
With this post, we remember the lyricist Majrooh Sultanpuri on his 24th death anniversary. Also we wish Rajesh Roshan the music director on his 69th birthday.
