Feroz Khan’s “Dharmatma” was one movie which had a story line based on Afghani background.
This movie was lapped up by its target audience and I am told that this movie became very popular in Afghanistan.
One big attraction of “Dharmatma” was its hit music,scored by Kalyanji Anandji, and the songs of “Dharmatma” played an important role in the success of this movie.
Here is the song that was most popular in “Dharmatma” and that can be said to have helped a great deal in making this movie a success, thus encouraging Feroz Khan to come up with similar movies with Kalyanji Anandji’s music in future too, viz “Qurbani”, “Jaanbaaz” etc.

Thanks Atul for posting this.
I like this song a lot. I remember I was in Class VII when this movie was released. This song was very popular – lot of my classmates used to sing this song.
Mine was a boys’ school but the fact that there was a girls’ school nearby may have had something to do with it. 😉
