Ae dil na mujh se chhupa

It is interesting to note that many film personalities in Bollywood had gone there to look for some other jobs than the one in which they finally made their marks.
There were quite a few who had gone to Bombay to become the hero, but ended up becoming singers, directors, lyricists etc.
Then there were some who at least got to work as hero in the beginning before finding their calling in some other roles.
Ajit was one such person who acted as a hero in his earlier movies before he became a very well known villain.
Another actor who acted as a hero before becoming a villain was Premnath.
One of the perks of being a hero was that he got to sing on screen. I have posted a few songs that were picturised on Ajit. Here is a song picturised on Premnath playing the role of the hero. The movie is called “Badal” (1951).
It is a duet sung by Lata and Mukesh. Lyricist is Shailendra whereas Shankar Jaikishan were the music director. This was the same team that used to compose the music of Raj Kapoor, the brother in law of Premnath.
Premnath’s herogiri was shortlived, but he certainly found his calling in villainy. This song is a good walk down memory lane to those days when Bollywood was just finding its feet and most of the present day legends had yet to become legends.

Song-Ae dil na mujh se chhupa (Baadal) (1951) Singers-Lata, Mukesh, Lyrics-Shailendra,MD-Shankar Jaikishan
Lyrics
ai dil na mujhse chhupaa
sach bataa, kyaa huaa
jaane bhi do dilrubaa
jo huaa, so huaa
taare gine raat bhar
jaane kab yaad mein so gayi
wo khwaab thaa madbharaa
jis mein behosh main kho gayi
koyi neend mein, hamse rooth ke
hamko loot ke chal diyaa
jaane bhi do dilrubaa
jo huaa, so huaa
khidki na chhodo khuli
pyaar ke chor hain taak mein
kitnon ki chori huyi
madbhari chaandni raat mein
aise marz ki, dil ke dard ki
dil kaa dard hi hai dawaa
ai dil na mujhse chhupaa
sach bataa, kyaa huaa
baaten banaao na jee
raaz to aapke khul gaye
aankhen churaao na jee
nain se nain to mila gaye
kyaa buraa huaa, dil machal gayaa
ghar badal gayaa aapkaa
jaane bhi do dilrubaa
jo huaa, so huaa

I heard the 2 audio that I found, and it does not seem like a happy and sad version. I am not able to find the difference between the 2 files, though it mentions the files as part 1 and part 2.

Atul, nice number. I guess the song also has a sad version of the song.
