This movie “Ek Phool Do Mali” was a lovely movie that touched the hearts of the movie goers who watched this movie.
The story line was nice and so was the movie.
Sadhana was to about to get married to Sanjay Khan when the news comes that Sanjay Khan and other mountaineers had gone missing and were feared dead.
That leaves Sadhana is a socially embarrasing position because she was pregnant with Sanjay Khan’s child, and the duo had entered in this “roop tera mastana pyaar mera deewana” condition with the assumption that their wedding was just a matter of formality. so here is another reason for not counting the chickens before they are hatched. Being overconfident and taking things for granted has been an old habit with Indians as I know as a long suffering fan of Indians sports.
To come to the movie itself, Balraj Sahni a widower who had lost his wife during childbirth and who was no longer in a position to become a father comes to the rescue of Sadhana and offers to marry her. That way, Sadhana would no longer have to face the social stigma of being an unwed mother.
The kid who is born is loved like his own kid by Balraj Sahni.
All is well till Sanjay Khan, presumed dead, suddenly appears out of nowhere into the lives of Balraj Sahni, sadhana and the kid. One can easily understand that his re appearance disturbs the peaceful and happy existence of the family.
Sanjay Khan may be the biological father of the kid, and he may be the person that Sadhana originally loved, but how can Balraj Sahni’s role in coming to the rescue of Sadhana and her kid could be so easily forgotten.
So it becomes a tacit battle between the adopted and the biological father to win the affection of the kid.
I had earlier posted a wonderful song (sung by Manna Dey) that Balraj Sahni sings for the kid. Here, there is another great song (sung by Rafi) sung by Sanjay Khan for the kid.
Two great songs in a movie sung for a kid. That must be something new in a Bollywood movie.
Prem Dhawan is the lyricist whereas Ravi is the music director. And this is a “happy birthday” song as well.
