Jaya Prada made her Bollywood debut with “Sargam” (1979) opposite Rishi Kapoor. In this movie, she played a dumb woman. But you would not know that, seeing that she sings many great songs in this movie.
Well, she sings all these songs in her daydreams.Just imagine the lengths to which Bollywood movie makers go to include songs. 🙂 And who is complaining ?
This song was the most popular song of the year, if I remember correctly. Lata and Rafi sing this song for Jaya Prada and Rishi Kapoor respectively. Anand Bakshi was the lyricist whereas Laxmikant Pyarelal had composed the music.

It ranked #1 in the annual Binaca geetmala of 1980. others songs of this movie also do well. Remember that one of our neighbourer has brought the cassette player, and that was the first introduction to cassette player/tape-recorder for me.
