Kahin karti hogi wo mera intezaar

What a gem of a song ! And curiously, this details of this song are not all that well known. Or at least that was the case with me.
This song is sung by Mukesh and Lata and it is from a 1974 movie called “Phir Kab Milogi”. It does not really ring any bell. And this song is picturised on Vishwajeet and Mala Sinha, who were a hit pair of 1960s, but were forgotten by the next generation of movie watchers who had come up in 1970s.
The movie may be forgotten, but what a song ! The Midas touch of Mukesh is clearly evident in this song. Lata also joins in later.
Majrooh Sultanpuri is the lyricist and R D Burman is the music director.
It is a gem that has been forgotten. It definitely deserves to be better known to music fans.

Song-Kahin karti hogi wo mera intezaar (Phir kab Milogi) (1974) Singers-Mukesh, Lata, Lyrics-Majrooh Sultanpuri, MD-R D Burman
Lyrics
kahin karti hogi, wo meraa intazaar
jiski tamannaa mein, phirtaa hoon beqaraar
kahin karti hogi, wo meraa intazaar
jiski tamannaa mein, phirtaa hoon beqaraar
door zulfon ki chhaaon se,
kahtaa hoon main hawaaon se
usi but ki adaaon ke, afsaane hazaar
wo jo baahon mein machal jaati,
hasrat hi nikal jaati,
meri duniyaa badal jaati, mil jaataa qaraar
kahin karti hogi, wo meraa intazaar
jiski tamannaa mein, phirtaa hoon beqaraar
aaa aaa
armaan hai koyi paas aaye,
in haathon mein wo haath aaye,
phir khwaabon ki ghataa chhaaye, barsaaye khumaar
phir unhin beeti din raaton pe,
matwaali mulaqaaton pe,
ulfat bhari baaton pe, ham hote nisaar
kahin karti hogi, wo meraa, intzaar
jiski tamannaa mein, phirtaa hoon beqaraar
jiski tamannaa mein, phirtaa hoon beqaraar

This song was made very famous by a remix version that released a few years back. I got to admit, it was the remix that sent me packing to look for the original version, and what a gem it is!
