Tu hai bharmaayi to… tu nahin aur sahi

Here is a piano cum party song from “Tu Nahin Aus Sahi” (1960). The lyrics in fact ensure that this is the title song of the movie as well.
The song is written by Majrooh Sultanpuri and sung by Mukesh. Ravi is the music director. This song is picturised on Pradeep Kumar.

Song-Tu hai bharmaayi to.. tu nahin aur sahi (Tu Nahin Aur sahi) (1960) Singer-Mukesh, Lyrics-Majrooh Sultanpuri, MD-Ravi
Lyrics
tu hai bharmaayi to apna bhi yahi taur sahi
tu nahin aur sahi
tu nahin aur sahi
tu nahin aur sahi
badi lambi hai zameen, milenge laakh haseen
badi lambi hai zameen, milenge laakh haseen
saari duniyaa mein sanam tu akelaa hi nahin
saari duniyaa mein sanam tu akelaa hi nahin
jaam aankhon ke bahut hain, kahin ek daur sahi
tu nahin aur sahi
bewafaa aap huye hamen badnaam kiyaa
bewafaa aap huye hamen badnaam kiyaa
ham hain badnaam to phir taur se betaur sahi
tu nahin aur sahi
mujhse tu aankh milaa, kyaa kami hai ye bataa
mujhse tu aankh milaa, kyaa kami hai ye bataa
tujh pe ummeed-e-wafaa ban gayi ek khataa
tujh pe ummeed-e-wafaa ban gayi ek khataa
pyaar auron kaa salaamat hai, teraa jaur sahi
tu nahin aur sahi
tu nahin aur sahi
tu nahin aur sahi

There was one more line in the second stanza of the original song before the line “bewafaa aap—-” , which is not found on any of the net versions or on youtube.
The missing line of the song was
“Dawa ulfat ka kiya, mujhse munh mod liya;
bewafaa aap huye hamen badnaam kiyaa”
The wording “Bharmayee” was perhaps later replaced by the Word “Harzai” from the song as well as perhaps from the film also. Every where in our old days (Including on Radio Ceylon & Binaca Geet Mala) we used to listen the song as “Tu hai Harzai”

In my younger days, I had heard only this version of the song in the audio clip, the link of which has been given by Prakashchandra ji. I heard this song with word ‘bharmaayi’ only today.
The original she’r ( first two lines of the song) was written by Daagh Dehlvi (1831-1905) with the word ‘harjaai’. Majrooh Sultanpuri developed the antaras of the song as a nazm.carrying forward the theme in the she’r.

There is another version of this song which perhaps is available only on the original 78 rpm record: “Tu hai harzaai to apna bhii yahi taur sahi, tu nahiin aur nahiin, aur nahiin, aur sahi” – which can be accessed on YouTube at https://youtu.be/iP2Cl6Rnhvo.
