Kyun zindagi ki raah mein mazboor ho gaye

on:In 1970s and 1980s, small budget movies began to be produced which told the stories of boys and girls next door rather than the usual make believe stories that had little resemblance to reality.
In 1970s, Amol Palekar and Vidhya Sinha were the biggest “stars” of such movies. In 1980s, Faarooque Sheikh and Dipti Nawal became the leading “stars” of such movies.
One pleasant fact of such movies was that the music of these movies tended to be very nice that would touch the heart strings of the audiences.
Here is a party song from “Saath Saath” (1982). Faarooque Sheikh and Dipti Nawal play a lower middle class couple, whose relationship is strained, but they are trying to put up a facade of normalcy in front of their acquaintances at a party. In the party, a reluctant Dipti Nawal is asked to sing a song and Faarooque Sheikh, who otherwise is not on speaking terms with her, is forced to request her to sing a song.
This song, such by Chitra Singh and picturised on Dipti Nawal is written by Jawed akhtar and music is composed by Kuldeep Singh. The lyrics express the feelings of Dipti Nawal amazingly well.
The acquaintances of Farooque Sheikh and Dipti Nawal are names like Satish Shah, Neena Gupta, Jaawed Khan etc, who were then newcomers finding their feet in Bollywood. It is interesting to see how young and slim they all looked those days, unlike how they look today.
The song is a very nice and lovely song to listen to, unlike most songs of 1980s.

Song-Kyun zindagi ki raah mein mazboor ho gaye (Saath Saath) ( 1982) Singer-Chitra Singh, Lyrics-Jawed Akhtar, MD-Kuldeep Singh
Lyrics
kyun zindagi ki raah mein mazboor ho gaye
kyun zindagi ki raah mein mazboor ho gaye
itne huye kareeb ke ham door ho gaye
kyun zindagi ki raah mein mazboor ho gaye
itne huye kareeb ke ham door ho gaye
kyun zindagi ki raah mein mazboor ho gaye
aisa nahin ke ham ko koyi bhi khushi nahin
lekin ye zindagi to koyi zindagi nahin
aisa nahin ke ham ko koyi bhi khushi nahin
lekin ye zindagi to koyi zindagi nahin
kyun iske faisle hamen manzoor ho gaye
itne huye kareeb ke ham door ho gaye
kyun zindagi ki raah mein mazboor ho gaye
aaya tumhen to ham ko laga tumko kho diya
ham dil pe roye aur ye dil ham pe ro diya
aaya tumhen to ham ko laga tumko kho diya
ham dil pe roye aur ye dil ham pe ro diya
palkon se khwaab kyun gire kyun choor ho gaye
itne huye kareeb ke ham door ho gaye
kyun zindagi ki raah mein mazboor ho gaye
itne huye kareeb ke ham door ho gaye
kyun zindagi ki raah mein mazboor ho gaye

Beautiful songs from the movie Saath Saath…a typical movie showing ups and downs of a married couple…the usual bickerings and adjustments. I loved this movie a lot.
I remember that the Ghazals from this movie were used in the 90s TV series Henna.
