“Jeet” (1949) was an idealistic movie released just after India had become an independent nation. Its idealism may look naive today, but at that time, people actiually had high hopes and big aspirations. This movie “Jeet” (1949) must have struck the right chords with its audience at that time, I am sure.

There are several songs that play at the very beginning of the movie as the credits begin rolling in on screen. I have not yet had a category for them, but I think I should call such songs as movie opening songs. They open the movie like how opening batsmen open an innings in a cricket match.

In Bollywood movies, music directors tended to create songs based on the range and singing ability of the singers. Singers with lesser range and lesser singing abilities got simpler songs to sing, whereas singers with greater skills were often asked to sing difficult songs.
