I thought that I had posted this song already. Then I realised that I had not posted this song. Though I had got the lyrics of this song ready a while back, I do not know why I had not yet posted it.
This song is from “Mere Hamdam Mere Dost” (1968). This song in fact is one of the iconic songs sung by Rafi. Most people have only heard the song and not watched the video, and I too was one of them. It is only recently that I watched the video.
From the video, one can see that the song is picturised as a drunkard song, where Dharmendra and his colleagues are drunk, and Sharmila Tagore, the only lady and only sober person in the gathering, is naturally uncomfortable.
Majrooh Sultanpuri is the lyricist and Laxmikant Pyarelal are the composers of this popular song.
This song finished 24th in Binaca geetmala finals of that year, and that was not a mean achievement for a song that year, considering the quality of Bollywood movie songs that year. In my opinion, 1968 was the richest year of all time for Bollywood movie songs, and I in fact call this year the platinum year for Bollywood movie music.

Actually I think the movie is good time pass. Saw it again recently and did enjoy it. Jhoota kahin ka with Rishi Kapoor and Neetu Singh later was along the same lines and both had great songs.

I think the initisland lyrics start with Chhalka Yeh Jaam not Chhalkaaye Jaam .
