Muhabbat choome jinke haath
Posted on: January 5, 2010
I have posted a few songs from “Aan” (1952), but I was not aware about the existence of this song. This song is sung by Rafi and Shamshad Begam.
The song is picturised on Dilip Kumar who is incarcerated ( alongwith his sidekick Mukri) in a dungeon by Nadira. The female voice is picturised on Nadira’s sidekick who is asked by Nadira to bring Dilp Kumar before her. I am not aware who this female sidekick is. As always,I am counting upon my knowledgeable readers to inform me who she is.
The song is written by Shakeel Badayuni and Naushad is the music director.
Song-Mohabbat choome jinke haath (Aan) (1952) Singers-Rafi, Shamshad Begam, Lyrics-Shakeel Badayuni, MD-Naushad
Lyrics
mohabbat choome jinke haath
jawaani paaon pade din raat
sune phir haay,
sune phir haay wo kiski baat
ho
mohabbat choome jinke haath
jawaani paaon pade din raat
sune phir haay,
sune phir haay wo kiski baat
ho
aa aa aa aa
ek to sundar mukhdaa unkaa uspar laakh adaayen
ham apne dil ko kahaan le jaayen
akele door khade lalchaayen
ek to sundar mukhdaa unkaa uspar laakh adaayen
ham apne dil ko kahaan le jaayen
akele door khade lalchaayen
chaand sitaare e e
chaand sitaare mast nazaare sab hain unhin ke saath
mohabbat choome jinke haath
jawaani paaon pade din raat
sune phir haay,
sune phir haay wo kiski baat
ho
mohabbat choome jinke haath
jawaani paaon pade din raat
sune phir haay,
sune phir haay wo kiski baat
ho
mohabbat choome jinke haath
jawaani paaon pade din raat
sune phir haay,
sune phir haay wo kiski baat
ho
mohabbat choome jinke haath
jawaani paaon pade din raat
sune phir haay,
sune phir haay wo kiski baat
ho
aa aa aa aa
roop nagar se aakar chandaa unkaa roop churaaye
meraa man dekh dekh rah jaaye
bhalaa ye baat mujhe kyun bhaaye
roop nagar se aakar chandaa unkaa roop churaaye
meraa man dekh dekh rah jaaye
bhalaa ye baat mujhe kyun bhaaye
nainon mein unke e e
nainon mein unke kaajal banke
rahe suhaani raat
mohabbat choome jinke haath
jawaani paaon pade din raat
sune phir haay,
sune phir haay wo kiski baat
ho

Dear JJ,
For you – My humble attempt:
The beauty and charm of my beloved is such that –
Even “Love (incarnate)” himself kisses her hands/
And the “Youth” lies prostrate upon her feet/
(Obviously such a unique lovely lass)
So why should she listen to (or extend her favours) to anyone.
I hope this is somewhat helpful in understanding the emotions conveyed in the song.
Enjoy.
Regards,

Dear Avadh Lal ji.
TQ so much dost. Was trying to figure out meaning of this couplet via backdrop of the story line of the movie.
Nadira was full of arrogance with Dilip Kumar. She had him imprisoned. Dilip sings this from his cell trying to woo her. Hence Lyricist Shakeel Badayuni created this couplet as intro of the song :-
After reading your explntn above, my humble attempt. Hope can be corrected if am wrong. Poetry of Shakeel Badayuni is truly a master piece.
mohabbat choome jinke haath
jawaani paaon pade din raat
sune phir haay,
sune phir haay wo kiski baat
When one is being wooed with love
And with young age prostrating at thy feet
why should she listen
why should she listen to anyone..
