Suraiyya was already a star (in singing as well as acting) when Lata was struggling to find a foothold in Hindi movie playback singing. When she established herself in late 1940s, she soon became the number one and never looked back since.

Some times name of the movie gives you an idea what to expect. If the title of a movie begins with the adjective “Chhoti” and it is followed by a common noun depicting a female person then you can expect a movie full of sacrifices and sad songs. Movie makers have left no such combination unused while choosing titles for their movies.

Few people today remember this movie called “Aman” (1967). It must have been a huge flop for this movie to end up like this considering that the movie had big names in it. Rajendra Kumar and Saira Bano were leading names during those days and Shankar Jaikishan were the biggest names in music direction those days. But all these big names could not rescue this movie.

“Mere Mehboob” (1963) is a kind of movie that is popularly described as a Muslim social movie. This movie, like most movies of this genre had wonderful songs in it. In fact, the music of this movie was the major reason behind the success of this movie , the actors of this movie were just in the right place at the right time and benefitted from the roaring success of the music of this movie.
