“Kaala Sonaa” (1975) to my mind is inspired from “Westerns”. In this movie, Feroz Khan plays Clint Eastwood. Unlike Clint Eastwood, who would barely speak, our desi tough guy would not be averse to multi task. He would find time to romance, sing and dance, in addition to performing his day job of seeking revenge for the murder of his father.
Personally I remember this movie for its songs. Those were the days when R D Burman ruled the roost and whatever he touched turned to gold. “Kaala Sonaa” has wonderful songs in it. I have discussed one song from this movie where Danny sings for himself. This song is Sun sun kasam se.
Here is another song from this movie which is sung by Kishore Kumar and Asha Bhonsle. This song is picturised on Feroz Khan and Parveen Babi, as well as on Danny and Fareeda Jalal. Feroz Khan and Danny take turns lip syncing in Kishore Kumar’s voice, Parveen Babi and Fareeda Jalal likewise share the voice of Asha Bhonsle.
This song, which was quite popular during its time is written by Majrooh Sultanpuri. And this joyous dance song is just the kind of song one would like to listen to while celebrating the win of Indian cricket team in the cricket world cup 2011.

I love this movie…could never write it up b/c the dvd won’t play in my computer drive though 😦

Oh, what a shame ! This movie must be great fun seeing that it has some of your favourite actors in it.
