“Meri Aankhen” (1939) is such an old and obscure movie that there may not be too much information available about this movie on internet. I have not been able to gather any information about this movie. I request our knowledgeable readers to throw light on this movie.
I came across a rare song from this movie and I liked this song.
Here is this lovely song from “Meri Aankhen” (1939). This song is sung by Khursheed Bano, also popularly known as Khursheed. There were several Khursheeds those days, and she was one of the most prominent of all these Khursheeds. She is the same actor-singer who acted opposite K L Saigal in “Bhakt Surdas” (1942) and sang some memorable songs.
This song from “Meri Aankhen” (1939) is written by P L Santoshi. Music is composed by Khemchand Prakash.
It is a rare find that deserves to be better known among music lovers.
I have not been able to get a few lines of the lyrics right at the end of the song. Readers with keener ears are requested to help me out with these lines.

MERI AANKHEN(1939),a Supreme pictures production was directed by Dwakaka Khosla(He was the father of Raj Khosla,director of 60s/70s.)D.Khosla was a cinematographer,producer and director of about 40 films from Veer Kunal-1932 to Khilari-1968,in some or the other capacity.
The cast of Meri Aankhen was Khursheed Begum,Majhar khan,Ishwarlal,Sitara devi,Trilok kapoor,suresh,bhagwandas,kesari etc.
Now about Khursheed.
During 1930 to 1950,there were several Khursheeds active in films.
One was Khurshid Jr. She was the elder sister of Meena Kumari.She did about 15 films from 1943 to 1947 after which,she married one mr.Altaf and migrated to Pakistan.
The other and more famous was Khursheed Bano or Khursheed Begum born as Irshad Begum on 14-4-1914 at Lahore.She started acting from1932 onwards.She was attached to Chandulal Shah’s Ranjit Studios and did 15 movies for them.her Holi,Musafir,Shaadi,Beti,Nurse,mumtaz mahal,Moorti,Bhakta Surdas and Tansen became hit films.She was a very good singer and in Bhakta Surdas,according to experts,overshadowed Saigal also.
She married Lala Yakoob and migrated to Pakistan in 1948.Her marriage broke and she married Yousuf mian,a shipping magnet.This was a happy marriage.She could not shine in Pakistan and after a long illness died on 18-4-2001,at Karachi.
There was yet another singing Khursheed,but looking at so many khursheeds,she changed her name to Bimla kumari and became a reasonably successful actress/singer.
