“Dil Ek Mandir” (1963) is a Chitralaya Pictures production. The movie was directed by C V Sridhar. The star cast of the movie included names like Raj kumar, Rajendra kumar, Meena Kumari, Baby Padmini, Krishna kumari, Taai Naagesh, Krishna Kumari, Achala Sachdev, Shubha Khote, Mehmood, Manmohan Krishna, Randhir, Sundar, Shantini, Ram Mohan, Keshav Rana etc.
I have discussed as many as four songs from this movie in the past. Here is another song from the movie. This song is sung by Rafi. The picturisation shows Rajendra Kumar getting delayed in going to meet Meena Kumari who is obviously not amused when Rajendra Kumar turns up late at the appointed place. and then Rajendra Kumar bursts into this song.
The song is written by Hasrat Jaipuri. Music is composed by Shankar Jaikishan.
Lyrics of this song, as well as other details of the movie were sent to me by Prakashchandra.

Lyrics(Provided by Prakashchandra)
yahaan koi nahin
tera mere siwa
kehti hai jhoomti gaati hawaa
tum sabko chhodkar
aa jaao
aa jaao
aa jaao
tum sabko chhodkar
aa jaao
aa jaao
aa jaao
tere man ki uljhanein
suljhaana chaahta hoon
tere man ki uljhanein
suljhaana chaahta hoon
tumhe aaj se apni
main banaana chaahta hoon
man ke sunahre mandir
mein bithaanaa chaahtaa hoon
man ke sunahre mandir
mein bithaanaa chaahtaa hoon
yahaan koi nahin
tera mere siwa
kehti hai jhoomti gaati hawaa
tum sabko chhodkar
aa jaao
aaa jaao
aa jaao
tum sabko chhodkar
aa jaao
aaa jaao
aa jaao
baadal bhi banke paani
ik din to barasta hai
baadal bhi banke paani
ik din to barasta hai
loha bhi jalke aag mein
ik din to pighalta hai
jis dil mein ho mohabbat
ik din to tadapta hai
jis dil mein ho mohabbat
ik din to tadapta hai
yahaan koi nahin tera mere siwa
kehti hai jhoomti gaati hawaa
tum sabko chhodkar aa jaao
aaa jaao
aa jaao
tum sabko chhodkar aa jaao
aaa jaao
aa jaao

‘Dil ek mandir’ was a remake of a Tamil movie, ‘Nenjil oralayam’. What was remarkable about both these movies was that they were completed in almost one and a half months! And the credit goes to the actors and the director, Sreedhar!

Oh my god! How can this song of Rafi Sahab was missing from the blog so long? One of the best Rajendra Kumar-Rafi song. Music, Lyrics, Picturisation, emotions of the actor & the singer are just marvelous. Love the part when Rafi says “jhoomti”.
“jis dil mein ho mohabbat
ik din to tadapta hai”
Thanks Prakashji for noticing this missing gem from our blog and thanks Atulji for posting.

There are still lots and lots of “missing” songs that are yet to be posted.
