phool ban jaaoonga
shart ye hai magar
phool ban jaaoongaa
shart ye hai magar
apni zulfon mein
mujhko sajaa lijiye
apni zulfon mein
mujhko sajaa lijiye
khwaab ban jaaoongi
shart ye hai magar
khwaab ban jaaoongi
shart ye hai magar
apni aankhon mein mujhko
basaa leejiye
apni aankhon mein mujhko
basaa leejiye

kabhi kabhi sochoon
ke tum mere kyaa ho
kabhi kabhi sochoon
ke tum mere kyaa ho
dard ho dil kaa
aaaaa
dard ho dil kaa
yaa tum dawaa ho

dard ban jaaoongaa
shart ye hai magar
dard ban jaaoongaa
shart ye hai magar
dard-e-dil ki mujh hi se
dawaa leejiye
dard-e-dil ki mujh hi se
dawaa leejiye
khwaab ban jaaoongi
shart ye hai magar
apni aankhon mein
mujhko basaa leejiye
apni aankhon mein
mujhko basaa leejiye

aaaa aaa aaaaa…..aaaaaaaa
aaaaa..aaaa…aaaa…aaaaa

aaa…aaaa….aaaaaaa….aaa
tumne chaahaa thha afsaanaa
main ban gayaa
tumne chaahaa thha afsaanaa
main ban gayaa
baite bithlaaye

shart ye hai magar
ek siwaa mere
sab kuchch bhulaa deejiye
ek siwaa mere
sab kuchch bhulaa deejiye
apni aankhon mein
mujhko basaa leejiye

duniya mein meri
jo tum hi na aate
duniya mein meri
jo tum hi na aate
geet hamaare
ae ae ae ae
geet hamaare
sitaarein na gaate

geet ban jaaoongaa
shart ye hai magar
geet ban jaaoongaa
shart ye hai magar
apne kaanon mein
mujhko jagah deejiye
apne kaanon mein
mujhko jagah deejiye
khwaab ban jaaoogi
shart ye hai magar
apni aankhon mein
mujhko basaa leejiye

apni aankhon mein

Nice song from a lovely movie. This was a total timepass film. You’ve mentioned Mumtaz’ name twice, Atul. I think you meant Mehmood who has easily the most memorable role in this film as an aspiring film director. There is a superb comedy scene with him – one of the most memorable comedy scenes in Hindi cinema.

And of course there is that fun song “O meri maina”. In those days, Mehmood used to often overshadow the lead hero in the film, so some heroes were not too happy about this. For example in Aulad, Bidaai, Waris and Gumnaam, he has big, meaty roles.

Dear Prakash Ji

No praise can be enough for your passion and knowledhe of hindi songs or for indian cinema for that matter. hats off to you.

In the last stanza of “Phool ban jaaungaa shart ye hai magar” I heard (in olden days) “Äpne Hothon Pe mujhko jagah deejiye” instead of “apne kaanon mein mujhko jagah deejiye ” . If we see the videos on Toutube it is “Kaanon mein” whereas if we listen to some old audio compilations of Mahendra kapoor, it is “hothon pe”
Quite interesting !
