Song-Na main bhagwaan hoon na main shaitaan hoon (Mother India)(1957) Singer-Rafi, Lyrics-Shakeel Badayuni, MD-Naushad
Lyrics(Provided by Khyati Bhatt)
na main bhagwaan hoon
na main shaitaan hoon
duniya jo chaahe samjhe
main to insaan hoon
na main bhagwaan hoon
na main shaitaan hoon
arre duniya jo chaahe samjhe
main to insaan hoon
mujh mein bhalaayi bhi
mujh mein buraayi bhi
laakhon hain mail dil mein
thodi safaayi bhi
ho mujh mein bhalaayi bhi
mujh mein buraayi bhi
laakhon hai mail dil mein
thodi safaayi bhi
thoda sa nek hoon
thoda beimaan hoon
arre duniya jo chaahe samjhe
main to insaan hoon
na main bhagwaan hoon
na main shaitaan hoon
bhai duniya jo chaahe samjhe
main to insaan hoon
na koi raaj hai
na sar pe taaj hai
phir bhi hamaare dam se
dharti ki laaj hai
na koi raaj hai
na sar pe taaj hai
phir bhi hamaare dam se
dharti ki laaj hai
tan ka gareeb hoon
man ka dhanwaan hoon
arre duniya jo chaahe samjhe
main to insaan hoon
na main bhagwaan hoon
na main shaitaan hoon
ha aa aa
duniya jo chaahe samjhe
main to insaan hoon
jeewan ka geet hai
sur mein na taal mein
uljhi hai saari duniya
roti ke jaal mein
jeewan ka geet hai
sur mein na taal mein
uljhi hai saari duniya
roti ke jaal mein
kaisa andher hai
main bhi hairaan hoon
arre duniya jo chaahe samjhe
main to insaan hoon
na main bhagwaan hoon
na main shaitaan hoon
ho duniya jo chaahe samjhe
main to insaan hoon

Those days, Dilip Kumar, Ashok Kumar, Dev Anand and Raj Kapoor were considered the top actors of the day. Sadly, no one considered Sunil Dutt anywhere near them. Even after ‘Mother India’ he was never considered a great actor. This is strange as he was a very talented actor and very good looking too.
Sunil Dutt was just superb in ‘Yeh Raaste Hai Pyaar Ke’. Suave, debonair, urbane. A perfect foil for that ethereal beauty Leela Naidu. And that incredibly chic Rehman!
His portrayal of a dacoit in ‘Mujhe Jeene Do’ can only be matched by Dilip Kumar in ‘Ganga Jamuna’. His ‘Yaadein’ and ‘Reshma aur Shera’ were extraordinary movies. That they flopped at the box office is no testimonial to his talents. It’s a testimonial to our immature, crass taste in our own movies!
He has left behind a treasure chest of portrayals for us: ‘Sadhana’, ‘Gumrah’, ‘Mera Saaya’. ‘Hum Hindustani’, ‘Gaban’, ‘Waqt’, ‘Main Chup Rahungi’, ‘Aaj aur Kal’, ‘Usne Kaha tha’, ‘Narthakee’……..
