Mere laadlon tum phoolo phalo

Posted on: July 7, 2012

“Sant Gyaneshwar” (1964) was one of the B grade movies that rode on the back of their A grade music to attract movie lovers to the movie hall and succeed at the box office. This movie was a Ranglok pictures presentation. It was produced by Ramraj Nahta and directed by Manikbhai Vyas. The movie had Sudhir Kumar, Surekha, Babloo, Jeevan, Sulochana Latkar, Shahu Modak, Asit Sen, Madhumati, Dev Kumar, Ulhas, Narmada Shankar, Meena etc in it.

Two songs from this movie have been discussed in the past, including the iconic song Jyot se jyot jalaate chalo which became the morning school prayer in many schools.

Here is a song from “Sant Gyaneshwar” (1964). This song is sung by Lata. Bharat Vyas is the lyricist. Music is composed by Laxmikant Pyarelal.

Only the audio of this song seems to be available and so it is difficult to guess how and on whom this song is picturised. I request our knowledgeable readers to throw more light on it.

Lyrics of this song were sent to me by Prakashchandra.

Song-Mere laadlon tum phoolo phalo (Sant Gyaneshwar)(1964) Singer-Lata, Lyrics-Bharat Vyas, MD-Laxmikant Pyarelal

Lyrics(Provided by Prakashchandra)

mere laadlon
tum phoolo phalo
mere laadlon
tum phoolo phalo
chhaaye huye andhkaar mein
tum deep se jalo
mere laadlon
tum phoolo phalo

mere dulaaron
aaknhon ke taaron
mujhko nahin tum bhulaanaa
maataa na hogi
baabaa na honge
tumko akele hi jaanaa
tumko akele hi jaanaa aa aa
palte raho tum pyaar mein
sab sang sang chalo
mere laadlon
tum phoolo phalo

ronaa nahin tum
sonaa nahin tum
soye jagat ko jagaanaa
ruknaa nahin tum
jhuknaa nahin tum
praanon ki baazi lagaanaa
praanon ki baazi lagaanaaa aa aa
yogi bano tum karm ke
aur dharm par chalo
mere laadlon
tum phoolo phalo

chhaayegi aandhi
aayengen toofaan
jyoti ye bujhne naa paaye
chhoti umar hai
lambi dagar hai
pag naa kahin dagmagaayen
pag naa kahin dagmagaayen ae ae
kaanton bhare sansaar mein
tum phool se khilo
mere laadlon
tum phoolo phalo
mere laadlon
tum phoolo phalo

A beautiful melody!
I’ve seen this movie in ’64. But I do not remember particular about this song.
But I am guessing…she must be mother of sant Gyaneshar (Sulochana).
As per the story his mom/dad both committed suicide in the middle of the night.
So she should have sing this as a farewell song to her four children.
