Koi din zindagi ke gungunaakar hi bitaata hai

Posted on: July 8, 2012

Today (8 july) is the death anniversary of lyricist Saraswati Kumar “Deepak”. He was active in Hindi movies mainly in 1940s and 1950s. This blog has 15 songs written by him as of now.

While looking for a song of discuss on this occasion, I stumbled upon a rare song from a rare movie. This song is from “Gunjan” (1948). This by now obscure movie had an impressive starcast of Trilok Kapoor, Nalini Jaywant, Purnima, Balraj Sahni, David etc in it.

Here is this forgotten gem of a song from “Gunjan” (1948). The song is sung by Mukesh. Saraswati Kumar “Deepak” is the lyricist. Music is composed by Ashok Ghosh.

Only the audio of this song is available, but my guess is that the song was picturised on Trilok Kapoor. I request our knowledgeable readers to throw more light on this movie as well as on this song.

Song-Koi din zindagi ke gungunaakar hi bitaata hai (Gunjan)(1948) Singer-Mukesh, Lyrics-Saraswati Kumar Deepak, MD-Ashok Ghosh

Lyrics

koi din zindagi ke
gungunaakar hi bitaata hai
koi din zindagi ke
gungunaakar hi bitaata hai
koi paa kar ke khotaa hai
koi kho kar ke paata hai

hamaari zindagi bhi kyaa
kabhi hansnaa kabhi ronaa
hamaari zindagi bhi kyaa
kabhi hansnaa kabhi ronaa
jise ham apnaa kahte hain
wo hamse door jaataa hai

ummeeden lut gayin jiski
tasavvur chhin gayaa aa jiskaa
aa aa aa
ummeeden lut gayin jiski
tasavvur chhin gayaa jiskaa
wo kashti aap hi
gehre samandar mein dubaataa hai

agar dil ho gayaa veeraan
karoongaa maut se ulfat
kisii badhaal par ab kaun do aansoo bahaataa hai

kisi ke chain se aaraam se ae ae ae ae
kyaa vaastaa apnaa
aa aa aa aa aa
na koi saath detaa hai
na koi paas aataa hai
koi din zindagi ke
gungunaakar hi bitaata hai

Oh, what a glorious melody and deep lyrics.
A nice tribute to Saraswati Kumar Deepak.
