Thoda sa pagla thoda sayaana

Discussing songs is one of the main activities of this blog. Discussing topical songs for special occasions is also one of our regular activities. With time, I notice that we have started to discuss songs on the occasion of anniversaries of various film personalities. Since there have been hundreds upon hundreds such personalities, such anniversaries are quite frequent and as a result, we end up discussing songs featuring artists on their anniversaries quite regularly.
Today is the death anniversary of noted Pakistani singer Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan. I was aware of this fact, and I also vaguely knew that he had worked in a few Hindi movies, but I was not aware of any Hindi movie songs to be discussed on the occasion. It is at this juncture that a blog contributor comes to my rescue. Peevesie, the youngest contributor of this blog has sent me the lyrics of a song for the occasion. This song is from “Aur Pyaar Ho Gaya” (1997) where Nusrat Fatah Alik Khan has sung two songs, in addition to composing the music for this movie.
The song under discussion is sung by Asha Bhonsle. Javed Akhtar is the lyricist and music is composed by Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan.
This song is new by the standards of this blog and one that I had never heard before, but I must say that I found the song quite alright when I first herad it. The fact that it was sung by a familiar singer may have something to do with it.
Song-Thoda sa pagla, thoda sayaana (Aur Pyaar Ho Gaya)(1997) Singer-Asha Bhonsle, Lyrics-Javed Akhtar, MD-Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan
Lyrics(Provided by Peevesie)
lukchup ke main ghoomi gali gali
kahin mila nahee mera piya
khil khil ke hans di kali kali
par khila naheen mera jiya
meri itni kahaani
meri hai yeh pareshaani
kabhi aaye, koi aaye
koi bole maine dil diya
dhoond rahi hu mai aisa deewaana
thoda sa pagla, thoda sayaana
thoda sa pagla, thoda sayaana
lukchup ke main ghoomi gali gali
kahin mila naheen mera piya
khil khil ke hans di kali kali
par khila naheen mera jiya
meri itni kahaani
meri hai yeh pareshaani
kabhi aaye, koi aaye
koi bole maine dil diya
dhoond rahi hu mai aisa deewaana
thoda sa pagla, thoda sayaana
thoda sa pagla, thoda sayaana
ha mujhse kare woh aake pyaari pyaari baaten
chehre ko chaand keh de
zulfon ko raate
haa
mujhse kare woh aake pyaari pyaari baaten
chehre ko chaand keh de
zulfon ko raate
milne woh jo aaye,
bole haaye meri jaana
dil me tadapte hain tere hi armaan
main tera deewana hoon
tu jo maange jaan bhi doon
mai tera deewana hoon
tu jo maange jaan bhi doon
bigdu toh karde shuru haklaana
thoda sa pagla, thoda sayaana
thoda sa pagla, thoda sayaana
kabhi laake de woh guthka mujhe bhopal ka
kabhi leke aaye lehnga woh nainitaal ka
haa kabhi laake de woh guthka mujhe bhopal ka
kabhi leke aaye lehnga woh nainitaal ka
bareli woh jaaye toh woh laaye surmeidaani
lucknow se le aaye kurta kaamdaani
banaras agar jaaye, saari leke hi aaye
banaras agar jaaye, saari leke hi aaye
poochhe dehli se hai kya mangwaana
thoda sa pagla, thoda sayaana
thoda sa pagla, thoda sayaana
lukchup ke main ghoomi gali gali
kahin mila nahee mera piya
khil khil ke hans di kali kali
par khila naheen mera jiya
meri itni kahaani
meri hai yeh pareshaani
kabhi aaye, koi aaye
koi bole maine dil diya
dhoond rahi hoon main aisa deewana
thoda sa pagla, thoda sayaana
thoda sa pagla, thoda sayaana

Derubala ji
Me also prefer using “Indian Film Industry” Or “Hindi Movie Industry”
than cliched “Bollywood”.
This movie got some more melodious songs
1)Ek din kahin…..(Sonu Nigam sang this slow and fast pace song very nicely)
2)Meri saanson mein basaa hai(Udit & Alka seperate versions must be there)(very good song)
3)Sonu Nigam`s soulful “Humse rahoge tum hameshaa khaffa, maaf bhi kar do jaanaa” is also very good
4)Asha Bhonsle-Udit Narayan duet:Jaagi huyee fizaayein also very good
Thank you again Peevesie ji and Atulji for this song.

I prefer using words like “Indian film Industry” but this is Bollywood…very recently I am seeing the advertise of Discover card in Ameircan TV , and have very less than 10 second spot of Bollywood dance…when western media use the word “bollywood”..they always use this type of dance sequence.
Never heard of this movie …kind of familiar with song…I might have heard …some where, somebody playing…
