Nainon se naina milaa ke – Song no. 7
—————————————-
Song no. 7 is once again a duet. I am not yet done with the duets from Rafi excel sheet. I was in two minds whether to have songs with ‘Ankhen’ ‘nigaahen’ and ‘nazaren’ also which match the theme. But the songs that have come my way having the ‘naina’ or ‘nainon’ are so endearing and similar yet with different flavour, that my hands are quite full.
For example one must consider this song from ‘Ghoonghat’ (1946). The singers are Nirmala Devi and Mohammed Rafi. Ramesh Gupta is the lyricist and Shankar Rao Vyas is the music Director of this film. Hearing this song for the first time, I was struck by the fresh perspective in the song. Nirmala Devi is a surprise package. Some songs by her are posted in the blog, but I have never had an opportunity to concentrate on her singing and voice quality. I know she is the mother of Govinda. She sounds a lot more talented than the her career graph is suggesting. Recently one of her songs was posted, where it was mentioned that she continued to sing in shows Radio till 60’s as she was a classical singer. That means her film career took a back seat after her marriage and change in circumstances. I am not sure if she acted too in this film or other films.
Only one song from this film is posted before this in the blog. That post too incidentally done by me. There is hardly any information available about this film. Even the imdb site has not mentioned the cast. Myswar.com is listing total eleven songs, with name of singers missing in some of them. In the Excel sheet of Rafi songs, the name mentioned is Nirmala Arun, and the the other Rafi solo already posted in picturized on Arun Kumar. There is one more song available on youtube, ‘gaaye ja gaaye ja ‘ , which is mentioned as a Rafi-Nirmala Devi duet at myswar. But the song has three voices. One of them is Rafi but this song is not mentioned in both the Excel sheet versions I am having. May be some readers who possess HFGK will put some light on the rest of the songs of this film.

Lyrics
Nainon se madh madiraa pilaa kar
nainon se madh madiraa pilaa kar
tum ne
haay tum ne hamen mastaana kiya
apna banaa kar tum ne ham ko
duniya se begaana kiya
apna banaa kar tum ne ham ko
duniya se begaana kiya
ye prem hai kya
jaa kar poochho
koyi shama’a ke uss deewaane se
koyi shama’a ke uss deewaane se
jalne mein mazaa aata hai kya
poochho koyi parwaane se
jalne mein mazaa aata hai kya
poochho koyi parwaane se
ham ne to aadesh pe uss ke
dil apnaa nazraana kiya
haan dil apnaa nazraana kiya
apna banaa kar tum ne ham ko
duniya se begaana kiya
apna banaa kar tum ne ham ko
duniya se begaana kiya
dilwaale o o
dilwaale hardam hanste hanste
dil ka saudaa karte hain
haan
hmm mm
ham kaanp rahe ab tak dekho
itnaa ham ko hairaan kiya
itnaa ham ko hairaan kiya
apna banaa kar tum ne
haan tum ne
naa naa tum ne
apna banaa kar tum ne ham ko
duniya se begaana kiya
apna banaa kar tum ne ham ko
duniya se begaana kiya
