Duniya Ye Duniya, Toofaan Mail” – the iconic song from the 1942 film ‘Jawaab’, which introduced the name Kanan Devi to the film audiences countrywide, outside of Bengal.  This song came from the pen of lyricist / story writer / dialogue writer Budhichandra Agarwal, better known to the music lovers as Pt Madhur.  Incidentally, ‘Jawaab’ was the debut film for him.

Remembering Pt Madhur on the anniversary of his passing away today (8th June).

Pt Madhur hailed from Rajasthan.  His family roots are in Sardarshahar township in Churu district. Not much information is available about his earlier years.  He developed into a writer at an early age.  A time was when he wrote plays and songs of the patriotic genre, and gained a name for himself by his contributions to the struggle for freedom.  In the early 1940s he came to Calcutta, and got his first break as a songwriter at New Theatres, in the above mentioned film.

In a career that lasted over four and a half decades, he has written approximately 200 songs for about forty films. He has also been as story writer and dialogue writer, and has co-produced the 1963 hit film ‘Paarasmani’.  A number of his songs have been sung as non film songs by stalwart singers like Juthika Roy and Pankaj Mullick.  The timeless classic rendered Pankaj Babu – “Tere Mandir Ka Hoon Deepak Jal Raha”, has been written by him.  He passed away this day, in 1988.

Today’s song is a lesser known, but a duly enchanting creation from the 1957 film ‘Neelofar’.  The film is produced and directed by PN Arora for the banner All India Pictures.  The cast of actors includes Chitra, Suresh, Nishi, Sundar, Shyam Kumar, Helen, Vimla, Amar, and Wazir Muhammad Khan amongst others.  There are five songs in this film.  Three of them are created by lyricist Hasrat Jaipuri and music director Basant Prakash and two are created by the team of Pt Madhur and Avinash Vyas.  This is one of the two songs created for this film by the latter pair.

An enchanting melody that is rendered so lovingly by Geeta Dutt.  Listen and enjoy.

आss आss आss आss आs
आss आss आss आss आssss
आss आss आss आss आs
आss आss आss
आss आss आss
आss आss आss आss आs

आsssssss
आssss आss आsssss
आsss आsss आss आssss
आsss आsss आsss आsssssss

आss आss आss आss आs
आss आss आss आss आssss
आss आss आss आss आs
आss आss आss
आss आss आss
आss आss आss आss आs
