There have been Hindi movies on the theme of actual wars fought by Indian Defence forces post independence, with semi fictional narratives woven around those wars. The first one that left lasting impact was Chetan Anand’s “ Haqeeqat”, based on 1962 Indo- China war.
In this movie theere was a very touching Mohammad Rafi song Main ye soch kar uske dar se uthaa thaa that brought out the trauma of soldiers living far away from their beloved.
Today’s song is also similar in nature. It is about a soldier having to separate from his sweetheart, in this case his newlywed bride, to answer the call of duty. This is a moving song sung by Roop Kumar Rathod, set to music by Anu Malik, with Lyrics by Javed Akhtar. This song brings out the dilemma and the anguish of the soldier who is newly married, and is supposed to leave immediately to fight for his country.
The situation is enacted by Sunil Shetty & Sharbani Mukherji.
This song is from the movie ‘Border’, that nearly matched the impact of ‘Haqeeqat’. “Border’, based on 1971 Indo Pak war, was the highest grossing movie of 1997. The movie is an adaptation from real life events that happened at the battle of Longewal fought in Rajastan. It is about how a small band of soldiers of the Punjab regiment of the Indian army that successfully defended their post all night against a whole tank regiment of the Pakistan army.
‘Border’ movie at the end depicted most soldiers dead and the trauma it caused to their family members. To quote from a source I am unable to recall, ” Wars do not settle who is right; it only reveals who is left. (Sic)”

Lyrics
Ae Jaate Huye Lamhon
Zara Thehro
Zara Thehro
Ae Jaate Huye Lamhon
Zara Thehro
Zara Thehro
Main Bhi To Chalta Hoon
Zara Unse Milta Hoon
Jo ik Baat Dil Mein Hain,
Unse Kahoon
To Chaloon,
To Chaloon,
Hmm hmm hmm hmm hmm
To Chaloon,
To Chaloon
To Chaloon oon
Ae Jaate Huye Lamhon
Zara Thehro
Zara Thehro
Unke Chehre Ki Yeh Narmiyaaaan
Unki Zulfon Ki Yeh Badliyaaaan
Unki Aankhon Ke Raushan Diye
Unke Honthon Ki Yeh Surkhiyaaan
Unke Chehre Ki Yeh Narmiyaaan
Unki Zulfon Ki Yeh Badliyaaaan
Unki Aankhon Ke Raushan Diye
Unke Honthon Ki Yeh Surkhiyaaaan aan aan
Sab Unke Hain Jalwe
Main Chalne Se Pehle
Saanson Mein,
Aankhon Mein,
Khwaabon Mein,
Yaadon Mein
Aur Is Dil Mein Unko Chhupaa ke Rakhoon
To Chaloon,
To Chaloon,
Hmm hmm hmm hmm hmm
To Chaloon,
To Chaloon oon
ae jaate huye lamhon
zara thehro
zara thehro
Main Kahin Bhi Rahoon Ae Sanam
Mujhko Hai Zindagi Ki Kasam
Faaslein Aate Jaate Rahen
Pyaar Lekin Nahin Hoga Kam
Main Kahin Bhi Rahoon Ae Sanam
Mujhko Hai Zindagi Ki Kasam
Faaslein Aate Jaate Rahen
Pyaar Lekin Nahin Hoga Kam m m
Jinhe Chaahoon
Jinhe Poojoon,
Unhen Dekhoon
Unhen Chhoo Loon
Zara Baatein To Kar Loon,
Zara Baahon Mein Bhar Loon
Main Is Chaand Se Maathe Ko Choom Loon
To Chaloon
To Chaloon
Hmm hmm hmm hmm hmm
To Chaloon
To Chaloon
To Chaloon oon
Ae Jaate Huye Lamhon
Zara Thehro
Zara Thehro
Main Bhi To Chalta Hoon,
Zara Unse Milta Hoon
Jo ik Baat Dil Mein Hai,
Unse Kahoon
To Chalun, To Chaloon
Hmm hmm hmm hmm hmm
To Chaloon
To Chaloon
To Chaloon oon oon
