“Loafer”(1973) was directed by A Bhim Singh for Century Pictures, Bombay. The movie had Dharmendra, Mumtaz, K N singh, Mukri, Padma Khanna, Roopesh Kumar, Ifthikhar, V Gopal, Keshto Mukherji, Madhu, Sherry, Rani, Renu, Sabina, Rajrani, Bhushan Tiwari, Kamaldeep, Raj Kumar, Keerti Kumar, Rajesh, Shailesh, Jerry, Ved Kumar, Ghanshyam, Ramesh Kumar, Kailash Bannerji etc in it. In addition, there were lots of guest artists in the movie viz. Anil Dhawan, Farida Jalal, Madan Puri, Anwar Hussain, Tiwari, Hiralal, Manmohan, Premnath, Omprakash etc.
The movie had six songs in it. Four songs from the movie have been discussed in the past.
Here is the fifth song from “Loafer”(1973) to appear in the blog. This song is sung by Mahendra Kapoor. Anand Bakshi is the lyricist. Music is composed by Laxmikant Pyarelal.
The song is picturised as a remonstrating with the Almight genre of song. Dharmendra, our intrepid hero is battling for life in the ICU of a hospital, and Om Prakash is seen remonstrating in front of Lord Ram’s idol to save Dharmendra’s life or else ! In Hindi movies, Gods tend to get shamed into action as a result of such emotional blackmails. 🙂
It is a well known song, though most people have no clue which movie this song is from. And I am among those clueless people. I have actually watched this movie (in late 1970s), but I had forgotten most parts of the movie, including this song. It is nice to get reminded of this song yet again.
