Blog Day :

Hullo Atuldom

Today is 4th August. We are celebrating/ remembering the maverick actor, singer, music director, producer, director of Hindi Films on his 95th birthday. I think he was first a singer who was coaxed into acting and eventually turned a producer/director of films. I think he composed songs only for films that he made. (I don’t mind if fans of his correct me 🙂 )
I am sure I need not spell specifically that I am talking of Kishore Kumar (Khandlawala).

Also, I need not mention that he was the brother of Ashok Kumar & Anup Kumar & Sati Devi who was the wife of Sashadhar Mukherjee (founder of Filmalaya Studios). It is common knowledge that all his four wives were actresses & his son Amit Kumar is also a singer/actor/ music composer.

I had contributed this post two years ago to celebrate Kishoreda’s birth anniversary. As on that date, the blog had 1283 of his songs as singer. As I sat to write this post, I find we have added 75 more and the number stands at 1358. The last Kishore Kumar song in the blog was posted was on July 18th, a contribution by the Rajesh Khanna- Kishore Kumar fan Avinashji.

Today, we are having a song from the 1980 release-“Neeyat”. This was directed by Anil Ganguly (no relation with the Ashok-Kishore-Anup Kumar Ganguly family I am sure). It was produced by Pradeep Sharma & Manoj Kaytee. It was written by Madan Joshi (dialogues), Ranjana Bose (screenplay), K.A Narayan (story). Songs written by Indeevar & Gulshan Bawra were composed by Kalyanji-Anandji. Asha Bhosle, Amit Kumar, Kishore Kumar, Nitin Mukesh, & Mohd Rafi were the playback singers used.

Shashi Kapoor, Jeetendra & Rakesh Roshan played friends with Rekha being the person whom all three friends fall in love with at different times & places. Dr. Shreeram Lagoo, Pinchoo Kapoor, AK Hangal, Bindu, Ranjeet, Gita Siddharth, Deven Verma etc were in the supporting cast.

I must admit that I am yet to see this film but I had read its reviews in all film magazines back in the 1980s. I don’t recall the fate of the film but I know it tried to cash in in Rekha’s growing popularity post “Khoobsurat”.

One song from the film is on the blog, posted in 2013.

Today’s song is a friendship day song, I am sure inspired by the songs from “Dosti”, “Dostana” and “Ye dosti hum nahi todengr” from “Sholay”.

With this post I wish all my friends a Very “Happy Friendship Day” “KYUNKI HAR EK FRIEND ZAROORI HOTA HAI” 🙂

Song-Hota hai kya yaaraana ye jaane wo deewaanaa (Neeyat)(1980) Singer-Kishore Kumar, Rafi, Nitin Mukesh, Lyrics-Gulshan Bawra, MD-Kalyanji Anandji

Lyrics

hum teenon ki wo yaari
do laakhon pe hai bhaari
jaan le ye duniya saari
lalalalala
hey
hota hai kya yaaraana
ye jaane wo deewaana
jisne seekha yaar ki khaatir
hanste hanste mar jaana
hota hai kya yaarana
ye jaane wo deewaana
jisne seekha yaar ki khaatir
hanste hanste mar jaana

kabhi na kabhi to gardish mein
sabke sitaare aate hain
yaar wo sachche hote hain
jo aise mein saath nibhaate hain
arre hum bhi saath nibhaayenge
yaari mein lut jaayenge
yaaron pe mit jaayenge
lalalalala
hey
hota hai kya yaarana
ye jaane wo deewaana
jisne sikha yaar ki khaatir
hanste hanste mar jaana

aur sabhi hain khoon ke rishte
yaari dilon ka rishta hai
jo ye rishta samajh gaya
bas wo insaan farishta hai
dil waalon ka naara hai
matwaalon ka ishaara hai
yaar jaan se pyaara hai
lalalalala
hey
hota hai kya yaaraana
ye jaane wo deewaana
jisne seekha yaar ki khaatir
hanste hanste mar jaana

jiski neeyat achchi ho
usi ko sachche yaar mile
warna to is duniya ke
gulshan mein khaar hi khaar miley
bandhu apna to ye kehna hai
hardam milke rahna hai
har gham milke sahna hai
lalalalala
hey
hota hai kya yaaraana
ye jaane wo deewaana
jisne seekha yaar ki khaatir
hanste hanste mar jaana
hum teenon ki wo yaari
do laakhon pe hai bhaari
jaan le duniya ye saari
lalalalala
hey
hota hai kya yaaraana
ye jaane wo deewaana
jisne seekha yaar ki khaatir
hanste hanste mar jaana
laalaalaa
laalaalaalaalaalaa
laalaalaa
laalaalaalaalaalaa

Toone apnee jaan dekar
apna farz nibhaayaa hai
yaaraa toone yaaree ka
khoob ye karz chukaayaa hai

hota hai kya yaaraanaa
ye jaane wo deewaana
jisne seekha yaar ki khaatir
hanste hanste mar jaana

Good one Nalini Ji!!

I had seen this movie in the last year of my graduation!! I was then an out and out Shashi Kapoor fan, having watched all his movies from his first one “Dharmaputra” up till Basera. After that I just saw some select movies of his like Junoon, Heat & Dust, Utsav, etc. I think he put on weight for his “Utsav” and couldn’t bring it down again as he had lost his rudder (Jennifer) by then. I read this in one of his interviews to a film magazine.
