Kamsune/Unsune songs of Asha Bhosle – 77

“Dil Cheena Chain Churaya” is a rarely heard song sung by Asha Bhosle and is from “Dhongee” (1976). It is written by Anand Bakshi and composed by Rahul Dev Burman.

“Dhongee” was directed by Ashok Roy and produced by Kant Kumar productions. It has a starcast of Randhir Kapoor, Neetu Singh, Asrani, Sujit Kumar, Farida Jalal, Iftikhar, and Premnath. Rakesh Roshan had a friendly appearance.

The story follows a classic Bollywood “mistaken identity” and “revenge” arc.

Anand (Randhir Kapoor) is a kind-hearted insurance agent living a modest life. His primary goal is to get his sister, Geeta (Farida Jalal), married, but he is constantly held back by his inability to afford a dowry. He is also in love with Neelima (Neetu Singh).

Anand is framed for a crime involving counterfeit currency by a gang leader named John. During a pursuit or a subsequent incident, Anand meets with a serious accident.

Everyone, including his family and the police, believes Anand is dead. However, he is rescued and nursed back to health in Nepal.

Upon recovering, Anand returns home only to see that his “death” actually solved his sister’s problems—she was able to marry using his life insurance money. Realizing that his coming back to life would ruin her financial security and social standing, he decides to remain “dead” to the world.

To bring the criminals to justice and clear his name, Anand takes on a new identity (the titular “Dhongee” or pretender). He poses as a wealthy man (sometimes referred to as John Lord) to infiltrate the gang, leading to a climax filled with action and the eventual reunion with his loved ones.

The movie had five songs and two have already been posted here. This then becomes the third song.
