I found it interesting that the same Shankar Jaikishan, who were the regular music directors of Raj Kapoor were the regular music directors of Shammi Kapoor as well. But while SJ would use Mukesh ( and sometimes Manna Dey) for Raj Kapoor and create hit songs, they would create hit songs with Rafi for Shammi Kapoor.

India of 1970 was a much more simple,unsophisticated, and underdeveloped in most respects. So much so that movie makers who decided to make different off beat movies were left in the lurch. Raj Kapoor was one such movie maker who paid heavily for overestimating the calibre of his audience. His ambitious labour of love “Mera Naam Joker” fell flat at the box office.
