I have noticed only today in the stats page that Rafi Sahab has just crossed the milestone of 2200 songs in the blog. The event went unnoticed and unacknowledged. So it may be alright to celebrate the occasion with another Rafi duet song in this series. Point to be noted here is all solos by Rafi sahab that could have matched this theme were already covered in the blog, leaving a host of duets with less famous female singers, which I have covered in this series.

I have noticed that some of the regulars on the blog have shortened the name of ‘atulsongaday’ as ‘ASAD’. They might be interested to know that ‘Asad’ in urdu and Arabic means ‘Lion’. Now there is one famous personality named such, we are familiar with i.e. “Asadullah Khan Ghalib”. And ‘Lions’ by nature are hunters and like to roar. Mirza Ghalib was a different story, as even if he roared, it turned into sheer poetry. Where as we at ‘atulsongaday’ are more comfortable ‘cooing’ as a ‘Dove’. At least I prefer to thinks so.

Destiny plays some very unexpected games at times. For some, the fame and rewards are never to be. That may still be a doomed fate that can be reconciled. But more ironical is a life, when the smiles of providence and recognition arrive when the person has already departed. Ghulam Mohammed Sb is one such gifted artist, for whom, the fortunes of recognition arrived when he had already left this mortal world.

In the earlier days of this blog, I would just discuss songs that occurred to me. With time, when we had some critical mass of songs we began to think in terms of discussing all the songs figuring in movies. At that time we relied upon our readers possessing HFGK to tell us which songs from which movies remained to be discussed.

“Madmast” (1953) was directed by Jagdish Pant for Sweet Pictures. The movie had Ansari, Nirupa Roy, Shashikala, Shakeela, Sapru, Mukri etc in it.

This movie “Shole” (1953), not to be confused with “Sholay” (1975), was directed by B R Chopra for Hira Films. The movie had had Ashok Kumar, Bina Rai, Purnima, Jeevan, Mohana, Manmohan Krishna, Mirza Musharaf, Romi, Naaz, Uma Dutt etc in it.
