Kishore Kumar is today known as one of the legendary singers of Hindi movies. But that is not how he was known till late 1960s. Till then, he was a middling actor-singer in Hindi movies who would act in movies and sing for himself. In addition, he would sing songs mainly for Dev Anand, courtesy his mentor S D Burman.

When one speaks of a movie called “Parichay”, one means “Parichay” (1972) starring Jeetendra and Jaya Bhaduri. But there was another movie of the same name in 1954. This forgotten movie had actors like Abhi Bhattacharya, Pranoti Ghosh, Shashikala etc in this movie.

“Naagin” (1954) has so many songs that it is easy to lose track of them. And there are songs which seem like extensions of earlier songs. For instance, the song “teri yaad mein jalkar dekh liyaa” is immediately followed by “Oonchi oonchi duniyaa ki ” song.
